Here
is a picture of my GDT crew taken may 1985. I am the one on the
left. The payload is a 2000lb test tub. The parachutes deploy with a 3
staged opening. First is the drogue that extracts the load from the
aircraft then turns into a pilot chute that pulls out a 100 ft dia. round
parachute to slow the payload down to deployment speed
Then at the correct altitude the cutters are fired then
deploys the main 3000 sq ft V-cell Parachute
